About Us
Abandonment of Maine is headquartered in East Machias and has been active in historical research and rural/urban exploration since 2012. Ever since our first adventure (consisting of two crew members and a camcorder), the adventuring hasn't stopped. Our research and planning crew consists of Ryan Prescott, Matt Michaud, and Lyndsay Sawler. Exploration crews are planned on a case-by-case basis.
Harold and Felicia Murray of the Bangor Ghost Hunters Association have helped with research and exploration of the Riceville tannery site.
We attempt to seek permission to explore a site from the owner of the parcel in question and/or buildings thereon. If we cannot seek permission for any reason and the site contains buildings of questionable integrity, or the site explicitly states that trespassing is not allowed and violators will be prosecuted, we do not enter. Otherwise, if we are not intending on entering any structures, we will enter the property. We do not vandalize any property and prohibit the encouragement of such behavior. The exact location of any given site will not be disclosed within an episode or in any written material unless the site is historically significant and its location is relatively well known, to discourage any illicit activity. We simply seek to explore the wilderness and forgotten places of Maine. If you or an affiliated party are seeking the removal of a video from our YouTube channel because of increased trespassing or simply personal wishes, please contact us by using the Contact Us form.
