Two houses sit on a large piece of property in rural Whiting, about a mile after the town line. It is unknown who built them, only that they are at least 100 years old. We explored them simply because they were abandoned.

This sawmill was in use for a very short time in the mid-to-late 20th century. It sits on ME-191 in Jacksonville, a district of East Machias. The property one contained four buildings including the warehouse (still in use) but one was knocked down.

Located in the middle of an overgrown township that is now home to only a handful of camps, this abandoned village once was home to over seventy people and had a bustling tannery, general store, post office, and a few other amenities.

In the early 1800's on the shore of the Kennebec River, a complex was built to serve as a fort during border disputes. After being bought by the state in 1905 it became part of AMHI and is now being renovated by Niemann Capital.
